A quarry of "Rowe Granite", a dark purplish-gray felsite located on the Revere/Malden town line. The quarry, established in the early 1880s, was leased by the Rowe family in 1907 and purchased in 1916. The site's wooden crusher building, once visible from Route 1, was built around 1911. The quarry closed in 2002 and has since been filled and built over.
The quarry's stone was used in Boston's Prudential Center, Christian Science Mother Church, and the runways at Logan Airport. The infield at Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox, once featured stone dust from the quarry. Elsewhere, the stone was used in the plaza of New York's Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, and the construction of Route 89 through New Hampshire into Vermont.
