Saint-Pierre-du-Cantal, Champagnac, Mauriac, Cantal, Auvergne, France

Sedimentary uranium deposit worked from an open cut from 1955 to 1982. Main ores were autunite and a lead free francevillite (the latter sometimes impregnating petrified wood) occurring in beds of lower tertiary sandstones. The workings are now completely backfilled. Located near Saint-Pierre-du-Cantal, 4 km NNW of Champagnac and around 19 km NNE of Mauriac.
