Off KY 409, dark blue-green kimberlite outcrops near Ison Creek. Massive outcrops, boulders, and loose rock are easy to collect. Decomposed peridotite can be found around old mining area and in weathered areas. Loose (but highly fractured) pyrope crystals can be found in some areas. Xenoliths of Pennsylvanian sandstone and shale are common. Small bright green olivine (peridot) crystal fragments are visible in matrix and weathered sand.
