Located on the Red Vein, at the southeast end of the village of Rookhope, the mine was originally developed in the 1860s for lead, but with poor results. It was reopened in the early 20th century for fluorspar and operated until ore reserves became depleted in 1966. An excellent suite of fluorite and galena specimens from this little known mine can be seen in the Robert King collection, now in the National Museum of Wales, Cardiff.
