Longitude: 122°25'51"W
An island off the southern coast of Marin County in San Francisco Bay. The island is entirely within the state park; however, a thin sliver on its eastern end is in San Francisco County to the south. The island was home to a federal government immigration station (west coast equivalent of the much more famous Ellis Island, New York). It is the island about 2 miles N of Alcatraz Island where three possibly successful escapees from the federal prison on Alcatraz made it to land.
