Strömshult Mines, Tunaberg, Nyköping, Södermanland, Sweden

Strömshultsgruvorna

The term "Eulysite" was introduced by A. Erdmann (1848) for rocks containing pyroxene, garnet and olivine. Palmgren showed that these rocks basically are the same skarn as the Mn-rich iron ores in middle of Sweden with two differences; much lower grades of magnetite and secondly higher metamorphic level.
The typical ores of this type mined held 6-12%Mn and 24-33%Fe.
