A populated place (town) located on the Scott River, a tributary of the Klamath River, 19 miles W of Yreka. Gold prospecting and logging remain the main industries until today. The town, river and valley are all named after pioneer John W. Scott who discovered gold during the California Gold Rush at Scott Bar.
