Coto San Bernardo


Coto San Bernardo is an old iron ore exploitation, located two kilometers from the city Astorga. It was exploited from 1957 until the early 1970s.
The host rock is sandstone, with calcite and quartz gangue.
Exploited minerals: Magnetite, Chamosite, Siderite, Pyrite, Goethite, limonite Chalcopyrite, and chlorite.
the deposit is in fact not exploited - there are still estimated ore reserves of 30 million tonnes.
