Fractured and altered serpentinite.
Apple-green incrustations on a serpentinite block along the road Chiesa in Valmalenco-Primolo, found at an elevation of 1125 m before the third bridge on Secchione brook by P. Sigismund in 1930, have been determined as morenosite by Cavinato (1936). This was, at that time, the first record of morenosite for Malenco valley and Italy. In Palache et al. (1951) this find has been reported as from Val Malenco only, but analysis #4 in the annexed table of selected analytical data gives the reference to Cavinato's publication.
