Lord Howe Island, New South Wales, Australia

Lord Howe Island has been inscribed on the World Heritage list for its rare collection of plants, birds and marine life and exceptional natural beauty. It is one of a handful of places in the world, and one of just four island groups to be awarded The World Heritage Listing.

The Island is surrounded by Marine Parks managed by the NSW and Australian Governments. Lord Howe Island is 550 kms cost of Port Macquarie on the NSW coast, and is part of the State of NSW.

Born from a volcanic eruption some seven million years ago, it has the southern-most coral reef in the world. The Island is 11 kms long and barely 2 kms at its widest point. Two-thirds of the island is covered in natural forests, Banyan trees and Kentia palms.
