Illabo Mine, Nana Glen, Coffs Harbour district, Fitzroy Co., New South Wales, Australia

Latitude: 30°10'50"S
Longitude: 152°59'44"E
Located approximately 7kms SSW of Nana Glen.
Operated as underground workings, shafts, adits and shallow pits.

The location is the very old upper historic workings of the Ilabo Gold Mine near Nana Glen. The host rock is a red marine jaspilite which is sulfide bearing and has richer auriferous quartz veins crossing it. The lower workings seem to have lesser sulfide content. The upper workings are difficult to access from the lower workings and would probably need a guide to find from upper forestry roads, there is considerable lantana growth. The rock formation includes gossan with manganese oxides, limonite, galena, arsenopyrite, pyrite and quartz, voids also indicate galena, arsenopyrite and pyrite. (Alan Melbourne pers. comm.)
