Limestone quarry - one of the largest in the EU.
The quarry is founded in Devonian Koněprusy limestone (Prag), the base is Kotýz limestone (Lochkov).
Čertovy schody-západ (Devil's Stairs West) has an area of 1 x 0,8 km with 6 floors (height app. 15m). The bottom is at 320 m above sea level and the North wall is at 445 m. Newer quarry Čertovy schody-východ (Devils's Stairs East) is planned to be on an area of 1 x 0,7 km.
