The Espedalen mines is located in two municipalities: in Sør-Fron and Gausdal. Magmatic hosted Fe–Ni–Cu-sulphide deposits has been worked in two main periods: In 1665-1672, for Cu and in 1846–1857 and 1874–1878, for nickeliferous pyrrhotite.
