Sierra de Rangel, La Poma Department, Salta, Argentina
History:Rangel saw: this area is about 70 kilometers north of San Antonio de Los Cobres, over the border West of the Salinas Grandes, La Poma Department, Salta province. In an extension, with flashing of 20 kilometres, loom, from Rangel to the rio de Las Burras and further north, numerous veins mainly engaged in an intrusive quartz-micaceous schist and phyllite of the Precambrian granite. These streaks of length and thickness variable, presumably hypothermal, enclose lenticular concentrations of small volume, carriers of Thorite, Thorogummite, Monazite, associated with feldspar, Hematite and poor galena in ganga of baryte, quartz and siderite. There are limonite and manganese oxides in its zone of weathering.
