Mogok Township, Pyin-Oo-Lwin District, Mandalay Division, Burma (Myanmar)
Mogok (city) and other villages nearby have been famous since ancient times for its gemstones. The gems are found in alluvial marble gravels which derive from the metamorphosed limestones (marbles) of the Mogok metamorphic belt.
NOTE: Many specimens (e.g., mushroom tourmalines) labeled "Mogok" actually come from Momeik Township in adjacent Shan State.
