Seiland Island is divided administratively into 3 communities (kommuner): Alta, Hammerfest and Kvalsund.

Note on the zircon localities in the nepheline syenite pegmatites in the southern part of Seiland Island: The locality Stjernsund is the largest and most well-known locality but there are other, smaller ones (prospects and quarries).
