The mountain plateau called Hardangervidda covers an area that is divided by 3 counties (fylker): Hordaland, Telemark and Buskerud. Most of it belongs to the Hardangervidda National Park. Hardangervidda, especially the western part which belongs to the Hordaland County, is famous for producing good specimens of anatase and quartz. This area is again divided between 3 municipalities: Eidfjord, Ullensvang and Odda.
Several small quartz producing localities (alpine clefts), a few also with anatase are known from this area.
The localities that has produced most specimens has been Matskorhæ , now protected and Dyrfonni
(NOTE: Some of the known localities of anatase and quartz are located inside the Hardangervidda National Park, and collecting and removing minerals are strictly forbidden.
