A valley.
High quality mineralization primarily occurs in Ratlum Mountain schist. Unnamed Ordovician granitic orthogneiss and an amphibolite member of the Ratlum Mountain schist are also exposed in some outcrops. Small simple pegmatites can be observed throughout the schist though they are typically mineralogically uninteresting. Large, gemmy trapezohedral garnets are found in local abundance. Area requires much additional study.
Much of the area is now contained in the Centennial Watershed State Forest. Access to the state forest is by permit only and collecting of mineral specimens is forbidden.
