Uranium mine. Discovered by South Alligator Uranium NL, the mine opened in the late 1950's. Ore was processed at a small treatment plant at the Rockhole mine from 1958-1961, then at Moline, 50 kilometres east of Pine Creek. In the early 1960's, United Uranium purchased all the leases on the field, until the last mine closed in 1964. Teagues, Rockhole, and O'Dwyers are all just to the north-west of Sterrets while the South Alligator mine is a short distance west.
