Phonolite outcrop covered by selbergite tuff.

Vom Rath (1860) mentions a sanidine crystal fragment of 3.5 kg.

Lehrkopf is a nature reserve in the Ahrweiler district in northern Rhineland-Palatinate.

It has a size of around 35 hectares and is located in the municipal areas of Kempenich (east and north of the Engeln district) and Brenk (west and south of the Fußhölle district). The nature reserve takes its name from the 496-meter-high mountain Lehrkopf east of Engeln.

The purpose of protection is to preserve the Lehrenkopf for scientific and regional reasons:

“Because of its geological nature, as a habitat for rare wild plant species and plant communities whose existence is threatened, and because of its special scenic beauty and uniqueness that determines the landscape.”

The nature reserve was designated by the Koblenz district government by ordinance dated September 20, 1989.
