Limoncino is a frazione (village) of the municipality of Livorno. The hamlet of Limoncino rises between the Livorno Hills and is about 2 kilometres from the eastern outskirts of Livorno. The modest inhabited area extends to the foot of Mount La Poggia.

Dawsonite, with other minerals, is localized in fractures of marls and limestones of the "Argille a Palombini" formation. Pink dawsonite (containing Cr) is only found in deeply tectonized ophiolitic breccias.
