A steam coal colliery opened by D. Davies and Partners in 1865 and subsequently forming part of the Ocean Coal Co. Ltd. founded by Davis. By 1945 over 2000 men were employed.

In 1955, Parc Colliery was amalgamated with the nearby Dare Colliery and became known as the Park and Dare colliery.

The Park & Dare Colliery closed in 1965 and the tips have subsequently been landscaped.
