Ancient siderite mines in the area among Lake Inferno, Bocchetta di Trona, Lake Trona, and Trona Vaga shelter.
The mining works, mainly consisting of open-cut excavations, exploited numerous siderite veins of this area. The main works were performed along the stream that descends from Lake Inferno, a few hundred meters to the north-west of the same lake. Here, a vein, mentioned by Jervis (1873), was exploited since the beginning of the 14th century. Futhermore, the same author mentions a siderite vein on the eastern slope of Pizzo di Trona, near Lake Zincone, which has never been exploited due to the excessive content of quartz.
