Sasso Pisano, Castelnuovo Val di Cecina, Pisa Province, Tuscany, Italy

(Sasso Pisano, Castelnuovo Pisa, Toscana, Italia)

This area is near Larderello in a geothermal area due to magmatic masses near the surface. It is along a great fault that puts in contact the sandstone formation of "macigno"(Oligocene) with Jurassic radiolarites "diaspri" and there are many manifestations of "fumarole" and "putizze".
