The Daffodil Gold Mine is located approximately 200 metres east of the roadhouse. While it is a historic location dating from the field's discovery, it is also the only site to see major modern mining (at the time of writing 2015). There is a water filled open pit, a grey mullock plateau 100 metres to the north-east (which can be seen from the highway), and the remains of the processing area close to the highway. The Mines Department noted 230 tonnes of ore was recovered from the Daffoldil and Carnation mines in 1982, with good gold returns, but provides no more details. Needs more research. Recent drilling shows a value at the site of 1 oz at 90 metres deep.

Crushings were found for November 1912 52.5 tonnes for 26 oz at 10 dwt by J. Saul and party. No more was found.
