Black Cat Gold Mine
The mine is located between the Morning Star open pit and the lookout, near the present administration offices for Ramelius Resources. The shaft was sunk by Metropolitan Mining and Development Company, in 1936, and eventually reached 300 metres deep. Mine Manager was R. Angus. The company also owned the Morning Star South lease which remained undeveloped at the time. In 1938 the mine produced 423.35 tonnes at 706.05 oz. The company installed a power plant and compressor, and was planning a treatment plant, when World War Two broke out, ending mining at the location. The Mindat co-ordinates mark the 'Black Cat Administration Offices' as named by Ramelius Resources, the mine in the immediate area.
