The mine is located directly east of the small flat topped hill seen directly east of the highway about 1.5 kilometres north of Cue. At the time of writing the site was under care and maintenance, as a base for a local exploration company.
The Cue Victory Gold Mining Company from Adelaide developed the site from 1894. In 1895 it erected a ten head battery and machinery. At the same time it attempted to sell the mine in London for 18 000 pounds without success. The mine was temporarily closed during this period. Ronald Farquharson was mine manager until July 1895 then was replaced by Gerrard Lovell. In February 1896, the company was wound up, and reconstructed as the Phoenix Gold Mining Company NL. After this it largely reverted to a prospecting lease.
