This is an isolated historic gold mine, just east where the Cue-Beringarra Road passes through the gap in the Weld Range. It is on the south side of the range.
The mine was developed by the Weld Hercules Gold Mining Company floated in London in 1895. The company was reconstructed in 1898. The site was originally three leases each of 24 acres on a reef 2 to 4 feet wide. The company had erected a 20 head stamp battery. Mine manager was W. Palmer.
The site sprang to life again in 1932 named the Tyrano group, and between 1932 to 1936 51.5 tonnes came out for 494.85 oz. Dominic Rinaldi as P.A. 3162 also mined at the site around 1947.
Contract negotiations between the mine manager (now W. Harpes) and an employee did not go well in June 1899, when the manager fired five shots at a miner named Harvey. Two struck Harvey's leg.
