An abandoned open pit about 40 kilometres north-east of the Plutonic mine. The Mareast pit is 500 metres to the north-east.
Mining in this area was conducted by Resolute Resources between 1992 to 1998. Ore from the Marwest mine was found to contain significant fibrous actinolite and tremolite. This waste material required a confined deposit in 1995, and this material was transported and dumped into the K1 pit. This is possibly why the K1 pit is relatively shallow with a rehabilitated level compacted pit floor.
