The Black Cat gold mine is about 30 kilometres south of Marvel Loch, and 6 kilometres south of the Buffalo gold prospect. It borders the western side of the Marvel Loch-Forrestania Road. It contains numerous workings, and at one point a small amount of shallow laterite strip mining was undertaken.
Only one historic entry was found. R. Dunne sent through a small crushing in 1937, GML 3716.
