In modern times this mine could be accused of false advertising. The site drew the attention of the Assistant State Mining Engineer, R.C. Wilson, after the owners of the mine published positive reports about their development in early 1926.
Wilson states the workings are on a strong quartz body, trending north-south, with a shaft sunk to 47 feet. At the bottom the reef was 72 inches wide, and a spur reef had been driven on for 25 feet. Wilson took several samples from the mine and dump, none showing any gold. He states the mine is a 'hopeless proposition'.
The location is 6 kilometres south of the former Mount Ida state battery site. The Mindat co-ordinates are approximate.
