The name is an accurate description. Little Wonder is one kilometre east of the Sudden Jerk mine, in turn 8 kilometres north north-west of the Mount Monger pastoral station homestead.

It was discovered by Alexander McLean and Charles Don in 1929. The deposit contained a rich vein 8 inches wide at the 14 feet depth from the surface, in schist with a little quartz and ironstone trending north-west to south-east.

Albert Jackson and Joseph Hewitt also held an interest in the mine. Hewitt soon lost interest and left. Jackson had part of his shoulder blown off from a self inflicted shotgun accident, and was not able to work at the mine. It was also claimed Jackson had no experience in mining, being a timber cutter previously. McLean and Don took them to the warden's court claiming their interests in the mine, and as payment for a debt Hewitt owed them.

Hewitt was ordered to repay the debt, but the judge did not award Jackson's and Hewitt's share of the mine to the other two. The judge basically said words to the effect to sort out the disagreement amongst themselves like adults.

Charles Don sold his interest in the mine the following year to Thompson, who joined McLean in developing the deposit. Don became a farmer at Merredin. The mine produced rich crushings for about eighteen months, but it appears did not go to any depth, and was abandoned.
