Prospector Breen is said to be working a gold deposit in the early 1900's about one mile to the east of the Dresser barite mine. Blatchford in 1912, states the gold has formed in folds of the country rock, that is impregnated with gold. The deposit he states strikes north-east to south-west, dipping shallowly south-west.
Mines inspector Gladstone states in 1898, the deposit is part of a range of high hills, intersected with reefs and leaders, all carrying gold. Half-way up the hill-side is a tunnel driven for 250 feet, with a shaft above meeting the tunnel. The reefs run east-west, the shaft down to 90 feet, but gold was only visible in a small portion of the reef.
On the crest of the range is a 1 to 10 metre wide quartz vein showing cubical cavities suggesting pyrite cubes in the vein at depth.
