Crescent was one of the original leases taken up by Doherty and Garland who discovered gold at Eastern Creek in 1908. It is a few hundred metres west of the main workings as a collection of deep trenches or stopes on a hill.

Crushings were found from 1909 to 1911. Work was originally conducted on the Crescent before the Doherty syndicate transferred their attention to the reward lease. Ore was being obtained from the Crescent from an open cut.

By 1914, the lease had produced 700.75 tonnes of ore for 1157.53 ounces of gold. GML 180L.

Acting Mining Warden Frappell in 1908 states the reef forms a full circle, averaging 20 inches wide. Gibb-Maitland the same year states it is the most westerly of the group, near the summit of a hill, mined by open cut and a tunnel, exposing small quartz veins in very disturbed country.

Blatchford in 1912 states the lease is half-way between the battery and Cookes Creek on top of a rough hill. Camels had been abandoned by this stage, and ore was being carted down via a flying fox. Ore was obtained from an open cut and shaft down to 60 feet deep. The lease contained a short high grade reef, and there was another reef at the foot of the hill, but was abandoned as too small.
