UK Grid Reference: SE066620
Latitude: 54°3'13"N
Longitude: 1°53'57"W
Initially a lead mine, later a fluorspar mine. Located near Skyreholme, near Appletreewick, between Grassington and Pateley Bridge. Started perhaps before 1700 and closed about 1900; reopened in the 1920's for fluorspar and became one of the most productive fluorspar mines in Yorkshire. An incline driven by the Greenhaugh Mining Company and then worked by C. R. Swartz (1979 and later) proved substantial reserves of fluorspar on the Gillheads Vein, but the operation closed in the early 1980's.
Grid reference given is the Middle Level of the old lead mine.
