location: The Trojan or Providence mining district is in eastern San Bernardino County, about 20 miles W of Essex, on federal reservation land (Mojave National Preserve/East Mojave National Scenic Area). Some gold, copper, silver, and lead have been mined here. The main mines were active prior to and during World War I.

Geology: The deposits consist of quartz veins in quartz monzonite that contain abundant sulfides.

Mines: Bamett, Gold King.
