Baal Hill, Deerness Valley, Durham Coalfield, Co. Durham, England, UK

UK Grid Reference: NZ190349
Latitude: 54°42'31"N
Longitude: 1°42'18"W
The sole surface exposure of mineralisation on the Deerness faults, where a small quantity of barytes was dug from surface pits. Some exploration indicated that some 2000 tons of workable barytes were present, but this was not exploited due to the ground having to be made good afterwards.
The whole area has since been obscured by the Standalone opencast coal workings.
