A lead mine, its main level having been driven in the early 19th century. The gangue minerals present on the dumps consist of coarse calcite and ankerite, and small amounts of witherite and barytocalcite with secondary barytes.
Barytocalcite is the main mineral present on the dump from a small shaft on the same vein at NY77034892.
East of Wellhope Burn in Hesleywell Hush, a short level was driven (NY77534929) the dump from which contains witherite, barytocalcite and sphalerite.
