Very old workings on these veins probably predating the Beaumont period which started in 1729. Keirsleywell Level was commenced in 1816 and despite extensive exploratory driving was never very productive, yielding only 597 tons of lead concentrates during the periods of working from 1816-1830 and 1847-1853.
The gangue minerals in these workings were baryte, witherite (some pseudomorphing baryte) and barytocalcite.
