Old lead mine commenced under the Beaumonts in 1760 and proving quite productive with reported tonnage of lead concentrates being almost 40,000 during its life. Unusually for the area, barium minerals appear to be absent. Dumps from some of the earlier surface shafts show fluorite, quartz and unspecified carbonate gangue minerals present.
