Batesville District, Independence Co., Arkansas, USA
The Batesville manganese district includes approx. 100 square miles in northwestern Independence County, southeastern Izard County, and northeastern Stone County. Four types of deposits were mined: manganiferous limestone, residual in situ clay, clay-talus residuum, and placer.
