A cobalt mine. Located 20 km from Shingu.
Kitayama-mura is an exclave of Wakayama Prefecture (unique for Japan, located between Mie Pref. and Nara Pref.).
Mineralization in 6 mesothermal Cu-Co-bearing quartz veins in Mesozoic rocks, related to a Miocene granite porphyry intrusion.
In a certain old reports (in Japanese), this mine was called "Shinokawa Mine".
