Hosted by the flat lying Melligo Sandstone at Dampier Hill. In 2010 the lease was owned by C. Sim. The quarry is located high on the steep sided Dampier Hill, extracting stone from a one metre thick bed of bright red and cream quartz rich iron influenced sandstone. The quarry forms a terrace following the contours of the hill. Used in monument and artisanal work. The stone is fine grained quartz rich sandstone with hematite, displaying pink, red and dark red bands. It is reported in 2010 the mine had been on care and maintenance for years. On the Great Northern Highway between Broome and Derby is a former office for the company built of the material. It can also be seen in the Broome war memorial.
