The 001 'faces' may be rough and slightly convex. While single crystals up to 6mm across and groups of two or more inter-grown individuals may occur they are generally found as continuous crusts. They range from colourless to white, this variation often occurring within individual crystals. On a number of specimens the apophyllite crystals are skeletal due to severe etching." ⓘ Siderite Formula: FeCO3 Description: Siderite from Narre Warren generally occurs as lustrous hemispheres up to 1 cm in diameter, with colour ranging from golden brown to chocolate brown. Most noted from Narre Warren is the "basket weave" form of siderite which is where siderite has had a secondary growth through the srinkage cracks in the blue montmorillonite.
