Ghilarza-Ardauli, Oristano Province, Sardinia, Italy

(Ghilarza-Ardauli, Oristano, Sardegna, Italia)

Also in this area there are many occurrences of andesitic and basaltic effusions (and trachytes too) which interested this part of Sardinia from Oligocene. In these altered rocks, interested by the roadcut Ghilarza-Ardauli there are very interesting mineral occurrences.

Local best sites are:
1) On the left side of Ghilarza - Ardauli road, about 20 m before a bridge, there are reddish-brown basaltic rocks with heulandite, stilbite, laumontite.
2) Along the Ghilarza - Ardauli road, after the crossroad for Sorradile Village, near S. quirico Church, in a reddish and green basaltic rock: stilbite, heulandite, quartz.
