If you look at the minerals that are found in Paris, you will see that there are not many and Mindat shows mainly pictures of gypsum, and not very outstanding examples of that. However there are many things in Paris of interest to the mineral collector. Most predominately the mineral museums of the Sorbonne, Natural History Museum and the School of mines. In many ways Paris represents the center of culture for the western world. Paris was the largest city in the Western world for about 1,000 years, prior to the 19th century, and the largest in the entire world between the 16th and 19th centuries. This last bit was stolen from Wikipedia. But certainly there are others better equipped to extole the mineralogical virtues of this city than I.
