Schneisenschlag (Schnepfenschlag), Zipfen, Otzberg, Odenwald, Hessen, Deutschland
An old iron mine, which was started in 1850 and raised about 200 tons of hematite until it was closed in 1858. It worked a vein of silicified baryte, which was up to 2.5 m wide and contained blocks of solid hematite in a mixture of quartz and baryte, cementing an earlier generation of silicified baryte.
Some overgrown dumps can still be located in the forest south of Zipfen. Remains of other old workings for iron and bartye are located a little further south.
