Andesitic volcanics. Classic feldspar locality which has produced many loose plagioclase crystals coated with thin crusts of glassy lava. Much unexploded ordnance left over from WWII - trespassing prohibited and dangerous. Politically belongs to Tokyo Prefecture although Iwo lies far out in the Pacific Ocean to the south of Honshu island (where the city of Tokyo itself is located).
