Peculiar ovoid graphite "beans" to 2cm size exsolved from a gabbro intrusion that penetrated carbonaceous sediments of the Nakanogawa Formation. The "beans" can drop out loose from fractured rock. Euhedral graphite crystals are found in the baked carbonaceous sediments. Nickel deposits in neighboring mines are associated with the Oshirabetsu gabbro intrusion.
