A former small surface and underground W-Fluorspar-Pb-Be-Ag-Au group of mines located on 14 unpatented claims adjacent to the Primos ground on the SW in the central part of sec. 9 and sec. 3, T.16S., R.22E, 3½ miles SW of Johnson, and about 11 miles NE from Benson, 1 mile SW of the Primos Mine. Discovered 1898 by Asa Walker. Owned by Mr. Joseph Robles (1964). Operated by the Dragoon Mining Corp., Coronado Copper and Zinc Co. (1973). Started during WWI and owned by the Dragoon Mining Corp. (1938- ).
Mineralization is a vein deposit that crops out about 1,200 feet NW of a minor parallel lead. Mineralization includes hübnerite with minor scheelite, pyrite, and galena in quartz veins cutting sheared and altered Laramide quartz monzonite (Texas Canyon stock). Gangue consists of coarsely crystalline, grayish-white quartz with some purple fluorite. The ore zone is 60.96 meters long and 0.76 meters thick, strikes N45E and dips 70SE.
Numerous small veins sometimes constituted lodes. Minor vein systems (1) strike N 15E dip 40 to 60 E. (2) strike N 65 E dip 80 S.
Faulting was contemporaneous with vein formation. Quartz veins 1 to 8 inches thick occur in three well-defined sets. Some are offset and sheared. Normal fault movement. Offset is small (inches). Veins occur en echelon.
Local structures include Tertiary block faulting trending NNW. Regionally, Late Cretaceous or Early Tertiary N- to NW-trending folds and thrust faults override to the NE. Also normal faulting.
Workings include extensive surface openings (numerous pits and open cuts 5 to 20 feet deep) and some 1,600 or more feet (487 meters) of adit tunnels and small stopes. A total of at least 32 tons (55,000 pounds [1934-38]; 8,000 pounds of concentrates [June, 1937- October, 1939]) of tungsten concentrates were produced during 1914-1918, 1934-1939, 1941-1945, and in 1948. Past production of fluorite occurred.
